Newark residents, various organizations and activists joined forces with Ironbound Community Corp. (ICC), on November 10, 2021, to protest the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission's (PVSC) plan to build a natural gas power plant at its existing wastewater treatment facility in Newark, and Aries Clean Energy's plan to build a sludge "poop" plant in the Ironbound section of Newark.
